Student Parliament

One boy and one girl from each form class in the school is elected to become ‘Form Reps’, and from these pupils we elect year representatives, prefects, deputy head boys and girls and the ultimate honour of being Head boy and Head Girl. Three of our recent Head Boys and Girls have studied and graduated from the University of Oxford, so you can see the calibre is high!

This year we are very proud of the leadership provided by our Head Boy Luke Evans and our Head Girl Emma Morgan.

The student council participates in all aspects of school life including governance, and has worked with the Children’s Commissioner for Wales on developing the rights of young people.

The 2014 and 2015 elect Youth Mayor of Merthyr Tydfil are pupils of Pen y Dre High School. They are fantastic ambassadors for the school and for the County Borough of Merthyr Tydfil.
